Lost in the charms of Luzern!

Day 7 - 13th October 2006
As usual, we left the house at almost noon today. By the time we arrived at Luzern, it was almost 2pm. A little incident happened as we were alighting from Uncle Yuen's MPV at a bus stop. Not knowing that Caleb was trying to carry Kara off the van, he started to drive off as vehicles were prohibited from parking at bus stops. We all shrieked in alarm as Kara was almost flattened against the car seat and the door swung shut on Caleb's leg.

Comically, this ruckus prompted a huge black guy at the bus stop to ask us incredulously," Hey man, what did he do that for??! Is he angry with you?"

Kara's diaper was bursting by then and her parents had no choice but to change her on the bench of the bus stop, while the rest of us tried to shield her from prying eyes. Yet another unglam diaper change moment!

Refueling session at a quaint little cafe in the heart of Luzern before we started exploring. Terelle's turn to have an unglam diaper moment as i had to change her in the cafe itself. Fortunately we were right at the back of the cafe so no one knew exactly what i was doing crouched in a corner over a wriggling baby.

Refreshed and ready to hit the shops!

Hungry again, so fast?? But hey its chocolates!

There's always space for chocolates!

The little girls wasted no time in hitting the shops too...

Kara: Wah Terelle check out these shoes!!

Both: Wah! They're gorgeous!

Terelle: Do u think they have it in our size?

Kara: I think so, look the salesgirl is waving at us to go in!

Terelle: Ill go get my Daddy's credit card!!

We loved this building with pretty murals on its walls!

Some views of charming Luzern

Sadly, most of the shops were either closing or already closed when we began our walk around town. We realised that people in Europe were really loafers! They knocked off at 4pm can u believe it?!

Nonetheless, we managed to grab souvenirs for friends back home at this little souvenir shop. They sold so many cute stuff that we were torn between getting which ones for our friends and which ones for ourselves!

The girls wanted to cart Pinocchio home...

Terrible shoppers who just tried items, took pictures and didnt buy anything! Tsk Tsk...

Terelle wriggling as usual...

This time the babes got to see some swans swimming in the lake!

After we were satisfied that we had all the shops covered, we headed off to a nearby carnival at the waters' edge.

Onward daddies!!

The girls were fascinated by the twinkling lights, booming music and festivities.

Terelle: No time for pictures!! Lets go on the Ferris wheel NOW!

Views from the top of the Ferris wheel

Check out the little Russian nesting doll!

We all had a blast on this 2 storey high slide, especially daredevil, mafia Terelle who begged to go on it over and over again! Regretfully, it wasnt free and her cash strapped parents didnt have that many francs to spare, so she only had 4 rides!

Swooshing down at breakneck speed, with the babes in our arms!

Okie lets go again!!

Mummy, how come i always cant see anything?

Since we were out of tokens for rides, the girls entertained each other by swinging on a chain. Ah the innocence of youth! When even a mere chain would set them off in giggles and squeals. The grown ups had greater fun watching them and we really revelled in their joy and laughter.

Whee whee whee! Oops kara catch me, im falling!

As we waited for Uncle Yuen to fetch us back to the farmhouse, we went for a snack again, this time at Macs. Finally a baby friendly place (we thought), as the girls were greeted by baby chairs, balloons and party packs. Alas, when i checked out the toilet, there was no diaper change area. Where do European kids go to get their bottoms cleaned??!

No choice but to change the wriggling babes in the car as we all trooped home, a feat which we have all become very adept at..

Sigh...
